Review: Milani Moisture Matte Lipsticks Review

Hello my loves! Today I’m going to share with you my thoughts on some of the Milani Moisture Matte lipsticks ($5.99). I got the shades Matte Innocence, Matte Blissful, and Matte Passion (there are 8 shades available). Keep reading for my thoughts on them!

Milani website description:

“Meet your matte. Your fantasy matte. The matte that not only feels great (yes, you read that right – it’s actually comfy) but also lasts for hours and has “a-mazing Instagram selfie” written all over it. Infused with grape seed extract imported from Italy, this smear-proof lip soother delivers mega color that won’t budge, even after a close encounter with a cappuccino cup. In eight luxe, go-the-distance shades, from the oh-so-sweet, pale pink Matte Innocence to the va va voom, fiery-red Matte Passion. This matte? So major.”

Swatches

Shades: Matte Innocence is a light nude color with a bit of peach/pink  in it, Matte Blissful is a medium pink with a purple tone, and Matte Passion is an orange-based red.

Pigmentation: Matte Blissful and Matte Passion are very pigmented, while Matte Innocence is disappointingly sheer.

Application: These lipsticks apply easily out of the tube-no dragging whatsoever as they are actually quite creamy. The only shade I have an issue with is Matte Innocence-it doesn’t build up very well and starts to look cakey on my lips.

Texture: For these being matte lipsticks, they are very creamy and non-drying. They feel really smooth and lightweight on my lips. The texture reminds me a little bit of the Maybelline Matte lipsticks, but I think these are even creamier than the Maybelline ones.

Wear: These wear around 4-5 hours on me, with the exception of Matte Innocence which fades more quickly. The lipsticks do transfer, and they don’t dry down completely on my lips so I’m able to move the lipstick a little bit when I press my lips together. I feel like they are more comfortable on my lips because they don’t totally set on my lips, but it also makes them easier to wear off. Matte Passion does stain my lips.

Final Thoughts

Pros: Affordable, good color selection (unique shades), pigmented, comfortable to wear

Cons: Not transfer-proof, Matte Innocence was very sheer and hard to build up

Overall, I think these are great lipsticks. The cons I mentioned are not deal breakers for me at all. I will say that I don’t recommend Matte Innocence, since it doesn’t have the same pigmentation as Matte Blissful and Matte Passion. I love these two shades, and I feel like they are unique colors in my collection. I don’t own MAC Lady Danger but from pictures and swatches that I’ve seen of it, I think it could be similar to Matte Passion.

Have you tried these lipsticks before? What are your favorites shades? I’m eyeing the purple shade Matte Glam next. If you haven’t tried these yet, what is your favorite affordable lipstick brand?

Thank you so much for reading! Have a fantastic weekend!

❤ Sandy

30 Days of Lipsticks Challenge: Week 4 FINALE

Hello my loves! I’m here with the final post of my 30 days of lipsticks challenge. Woohoo, I made it! If you’re not sure what this challenge is about, check out my original post here. Essentially, I wore a different lipstick every day during the month of April in order to shop my stash and show some love to my older or unworn lippies.

Day 22 Rimmel Show Off Lip Lacquer “Stellar”: A glossy coral color. The lip laquers are very pigmented but I find the lasting power is not very good. Gorgeous color though, and fairly moisturizing.

Day 23 MAC “Flat Out Fabulous”: A purply fuschia color with a matte finish. It lasts very well on me. It is very matte though, and can be drying.

Day 24 Rimmel Show Off Lip Lacquer “Aurora”: A glossy rosy pink color.

Day 25 Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick “Melondrama”: A melon orange color with a satin finish. This is a great shade for spring and summer. Also, the name is adorable.

Day 26 NYC Liquid Lip Stain “Unforgettable Fuschia”: This is actually new to me. It is a fuschia color with a thin, liquidy formula that is pretty pigmented. It dries down to a matte finish, wears fairly long, and does leave behind a stain.

Day 27 Buxom “Menace”: A berry/burgundy shade with a cream finish. This is a sample size. It’s a nice color and decent formula, nothing too special though.

Day 28 Kate Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick “107”: A light peachy pink color with a cream finish. This is a really lovely everyday shade.

Day 29 MAC “Faux”: A mauvey pink color with a grayish undertone and a satin finish. The shade is very similar to MAC Brave but with a cooler, gray undertone. It’s quite nice though, I just prefer Brave for some reason.

Day 30 Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm “Striking”: A strawberry red, almost coral shade with a matte finish. A really fun, bright color. Love the Revlon Matte Balms in general, they are so creamy and easy to apply. Wear time is average, and it fades most quickly in the center of my lips.

Well friends, that concludes 30 Days of Lipsticks Challenge! I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did 🙂 It was hard not reaching for some of my favorite, everyday lippies but it was great to revisit some of the lippies in my collection. I think it would be fun to do something like this with eyeshadow palettes.

30 Days of Lipstick Challenge: Week 1

Hey dolls! Here is my first week of my 30 Days of Lipsticks Challenge. It was fun shopping my stash and wearing lippies I haven’t worn in awhile.

If you don’t know what the 30 Days of Lipsticks Challenge is, check out my original post here. I had considered doing a daily post but after reading some feedback, I decided to do a weekly post instead. Day 1: Revlon Matte Balm ‘Elusive’- A slightly bright, cool toned pink. A super velvety matte finish.

Day 2: Rimmel Provocalips ‘Kiss Fatal’- A dark berry color. Still love these provocalips! They wear forever. This is the first time I wore this shade.

Day 3: Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick ‘Outlaw’- A cherry red color. I have a sample size of this from a Christmas set. It wears really well.

Day 4:NYC Expert Last Lip Color ‘Smooch’- A light pink that is a little bit bright and slightly blue toned. This is a creamy lipstick that takes a few swipes to build up the color. I remember buying a few of these when they were on sale, and I thought this shade would be more neutral than it turned out to be. I think this is a nice shade for spring. I’m glad I busted it out because I didn’t like the shade when I first got it.

Day 5: NYX Butter Gloss ‘Eclair’- A slightly blue toned pink gloss. Super comfortable to wear and smells delicious.

Day 6: MAC ‘Patisserie’ (Lustre)- A neutral, sheer MLBB color. This feels like a lip balm but has a little bit of color to it. Very comfortable to wear but wears off quickly.

Day 7: NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream ‘Zurich’-A neutral/slightly peachy pink. This is a really muted color and great for everyday. I used to wear it a lot when I first got it but it got pushed out by new lippies. I’m glad I busted it out again.

Swatches

That’s it for my first week of lippies! It seems like I stuck to mostly pinks/neutrals this week with a couple more vibrant shades. There hasn’t been any kind of planning ahead when it comes to picking the lippies, I kind of just pick whatever I feel like each day 🙂

Hope you enjoyed reading! 🙂 Did any of these shades stand out to you? Do you own any of these already?
